Text books have always been an integral part of the learning process for students and it was only the outbreak of the Covid pandemic that changed things drastically. Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) has now made it easier for students to secure their text books.

Qatar Post has successfully delivered text books to more than 4,300 Qatar University students in Fall-2021 semester, said its Press note.

The delivery service was launched on August 15 in parallel with Qatar University’s fall semester and with university shifting towards blended learning as part of the precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Pursuant to this, Qatar University has announced the launch of the online Self-Service System which allows students to request textbooks directly through a 24×7 online portal, saving valuable time and effort. To avail themselves of the Textbooks Delivery Service, students can use their Self-Service account to select the required books under the ‘Textbooks Delivery Service’ link, fill-in their address and contact details, and submit a request.

Thanks to an API integration between QU’s and Qatar Post’s order management systems, orders are received and managed by Qatar University’s textbooks section.

Textbooks staff are responsible for handling all requests, from receiving the orders, carefully picking and packing the books and reviewing all orders. Qatar Post then collects all consignments and proceeds to schedule a delivery date and time within 3-5 working days.

Unsuccessful deliveries are kept at Qatar Post’s branches for a week where students can pick them up personally. Any unclaimed orders are returned to Qatar University as a failed delivery.

Abdullah Khamees  Almuraikhi, director, Mails and Express Operations Department, Qatar Post, said, “Qatar Post is proud to act as the delivery arm for Qatar University in the interest of public health and well-being. Our purpose is to support Qatar University’s new blended learning system by providing students the convenience of a fast, hassle-free and safe textbook delivery service every semester.

“These efforts join with many others as part of our overarching commitment to overcome the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic by developing appropriate mechanisms.”

Ms. Noora Alyafei, section head of University Textbooks Section said, “The University Textbooks Delivery Service comes as part of the section’s continuous development plan to facilitate matters for students, especially in light of the circumstances imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, as any delay in receiving books can affect the academic success and educational achievement of the student.”
